Miles would like to say:
To the women in my life: my genius girlfriend Ruby who inspires me and gives me the support that keeps me going and going and going and going and never stop, my big sister, Greer who very early on introduced me to everything cool in this world, things I cherish that ended up on this record, my hilarious mother, my aunt Robin; and both of my grandmothers who god bless are still here.
I would also like to shout out the DMV where we recorded most of this album in my childhood bedroom, don pollo chicken in the fridge, 12 hour vocal tracking seshes, and the bands I played with in and around the city. And to the people I met along the way, friends who showed me hardcore for the first time and packed rooms and energy and the people who showed me what a ‘scene’ looks like, and the friends I lost along the way. You were all there, you’re in this.
Off the dome a special thank you to Drama Situation, Jake Lazovick, the Snack Bar, the city of Philadelphia, Bandcamp and soundcloud, American Idol, my first drum kit, my grandma’s Yamaha PS-something, the cabin in Mathias, West Virginia, and my big bro — where do I even begin? I’m proud of everything we ever make together, and yes, you showed me magic’s real.
Nick would like to say:
I wanna dedicate this album to Sophie Xeon, my forever inspiration as a person and as an artist, who was, beyond a genius musician, a poet, a comedian, and the living image of total conviction!! You showed me how to turn raw iron into pure helium, you proved immaculate conception is real, and every piece of music I ever make will always be for you.
To my musical heroes: Outkast, Lauryn Hill, Wyclef, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Timbaland, The Neptunes, Danjahandz, Just Blaze, Blaqstarr, Organized Noize, Missy Elliott, Mica Levi, William Orbit, Young Thug, Eminem, Skream, Rusko, IAM, M.I.A., Grimes, Diplo, Drake, Kelis, Wim Mertens, Britney Spears.
To whoever wrote “Funkytown”, to the compilers of Now That’s What I Call Music Vol. 7, to the PDs at 93.9 and 95.5 back in the day, to the school bus drivers playing Rickey Smiley at 6:45 in the morning. Do you remember hearing CCB “Classy” at the school dance, do you remember the under-18 club where I performed with Rich Boy and Jenn Malsch, do you think you can still find footage of it on YouTube? Do you know that your first album takes your whole life?
To Greer, my treacherous twin. And to Miles, my big dawg and baby bro - wat da fuk are we even doing?? …
THIS COULD BE REAL!
